An opportunity has arisen to appoint Imperial Trainees to these exciting posts based at Northwick Park Hospital.
This is a busy unit with approximately 5500 deliveries/year in a high risk population. As well as the delivery suite itself, the successful candidate will be involved in antenatal anaesthetic clinic, multidisciplinary management of high risk deliveries and HDU care.
This post will provide exposure to all areas of obstetric care including practical, management experience, committee work, quality improvement and research. The fellow will be involved in running a HDU course for midwives and local mandatory midwifery training.
Research
This unit has a long tradition of research, quality improvement and publications. The post holder will be expected to participate in and initiate research and quality improvement and see this through to presentation and publication.
Teaching
The post holder will assist with training in obstetric management for more junior team members and nursing and midwifery staff, as well as teach medical and paramedical staff outside the department.
Other Clinical Duties
The post holder will fully participate in the second on, senior trainee rota, covering main theatres/PACU/labour ward.
Essential Qualities
FRCA or equivalent
Career interest in obstetric anaesthesia
Intermediate Obstetric competencies (to be completed prior to commencing post)
Initiative and ability to develop ideas.
The research element of this post will entail some self directed work, sometimes to strict deadlines. There will flexibility and guidance from the department to support the fellows in their interests and research projects.
This will be a six month period of hard work, but the more you put in, the more you are likely to get out!
