Obstetric anaesthesia fellowship: two jobs beginning August 2019 and February 2020.

Applications are welcome from Imperial trainees who are ST5 and above for the obstetric anaesthesia fellowship at Northwick Park Hospital. This is a busy unit with approximately 5000 deliveries/year in a high-risk population. As well as the delivery suite itself, the successful candidate will be involved in antenatal anaesthetic clinic, maternal medicine clinic, and management of high-risk deliveries. This post will provide exposure to all areas of obstetric care including practical, management experience, committee work, audit and research. The fellow will be involved in running a maternity critical care course for midwives.

Research
The post holder will be expected to participate in and initiate research and audit, and see this through to presentation and publication. The research element of this post will entail self- directed work, sometimes to strict deadlines.

Teaching
The post holder will assist with training in obstetric anaesthesia within the department, and with teaching to medical and paramedical staff outside the department on an ad hoc basis.

Other Clinical Duties
The post holder will participate in the senior ST rota with its attendant duties.

There is a great degree of flexibility in the post to fit the needs and wishes of the fellow, their interests and research project. This will be a six month period of hard work, but the more you put in, the more you are likely to get out!
