Commencing Aug 2019. Work towards an educational qualification, develop your teaching skills including high fidelity simulation and beef up your CV
Hi Everyone,
Myself and a Jen (Anaesthetic/ICM trainees currently at King’s) are hoping to set up a teaching programme aimed at Primary FRCA revision. We plan to target those topics which people tend to find most difficult; be it the physics behind MRI, infusion kinetics, or ABG analyser electrodes to name but a few.
We have designed a survey to help find out which topics are found difficult by trainees.
It'll take 2-3 mins to complete the survey. We will close it at the end of Feb.
Thank

What is it?
This course has been designed by Registrars and Consultants to complement the hugely successful Viva Course.
The OSCE is an area of the exam that candidates can find difficult to prepare for. It requires extra revision time and this course is designed for those who have prepared for the exam and would like specific teaching sessions, exposure to simulation and experience of a full OSCE examination.
What does the course entail?
- Introductory lecture from a current College examiner with insight on the examination; how to prepare, expectations, format and mark scheme.
- A strategy to approach each of the various station types in the exam.
- Dedicated morning simulation session on critical incidents/resuscitation scenarios; one scenario for each candidate with exposure to a further 8.
- Rapid revision session on key physics and equipment topics commonly encountered in the OSCE.
- Communication skills workshop and tips for the OSCE communication skills stations.
- Complete 18 station mock OSCE under examination conditions. The stations include:
- Examined by registrars with recent experience of the OSCE and can therefore accurately direct you to ‘hot topics’ and common pitfalls
- Individual feedback
- Individual marks to gauge your further revision
- Attendance Certificate
When?
The week prior to the Primary OSCE exam week.
Who can do it?
This course is aimed at candidates about to sit the forthcoming OSCE exam. Please note that places are limited; therefore we request that you only attend this course if you are fully prepared.
Taught by?
Large team of registrars who have recently been completed the exam. They can accurately direct you to ‘hot topics’ and common pitfalls to help tailor your final revision efforts.
